Our body responds to every food differently. When you ingests a portion of food, it is absorbed in our bloodstream after passing through several organs and processes. There are many possible causes when you will feel chest pain and one of them is acid indigestion. Yes, acidity in chest can lead to heartburn that can be painful. Sometimes, it can feel like a heart attack too.

When chest pain occurs?

If you are suffering from heart disease, the risk of getting a heart attack is high. It can cause intolerable pain to your chest during the attack. This happens when there is a shortage of blood supply to the heart muscles due to coronary artery disease. Some cases can even result in cardiac arrest.

Angina is another condition when chest pain comes. The pain is similar to a heart attack. It arises when vessels narrow and your heart doesn’t get enough oxygen-rich blood. With medicines and proper care, the pain goes away but stable angina is harmful to your health.

Now, the last condition is heartburn, which exists because of acidity in chest. In this situation, stomach acid affects the esophagus causing pain in the middle-upper part of the chest. It’s also called acid indigestion, chest burn, acid indigestion, and dyspepsia.

Antacids are the best chest burn remedy but even some natural ingredients such as banana, cloves, and jaggery help treat indigestion. However, chest burns more than 3-4 times in a week point out to something wrong in your digestive tract. It’s a sign of GERD (Gastroesophageal reflux disease) so consult your doctor first before taking any medicine.

Other possible causes include Myocarditis, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, pulmonary hypertension, pneumonia, peptic ulcer, and plenty of other conditions that can cause chest pain.

What to do if you are feeling chest pain with indigestion?

For a person suffering due to heart disease, if it’s a heart attack then provide the medicine prescribed by the doctor. Arrange an ambulance as the patient might need urgent attention and treatment.
