China Medical Equipment Fair (CMEF) spring 2008, staged in Shenzhen, China, April 18-21, set new records both in terms of exhibition space and increased international attendance. As the largest edition yet, this year’s CMEF edition consumed 98,000 square meters of exhibition space, and hosted a total of 1,973 exhibitors and more than 50,000 visitors. The show’s popularity among international businesses continues to grow as evidenced by its diverse attendee base representing a record number of 102 countries, 10 national pavilions and 171 international exhibitors.
The four-day CMEF event allowed the global trade and medical community exhibitors to showcase a wide range of products and technologies including imaging, surgical and emergency, diagnostics, critical patient care, electronics, optical, laboratory and clinical devices, and other healthcare products and services for hospital and medical institutes.
With the exhibitors and attendees both pleased with the turnout and business conducted at the CMEF spring 2008 event, the industry can anticipate an even better showcase in the next edition of the show. “This is our first time here. We are very impressed with the quality and diversity of the show. The event serves as an excellent platform to establish our presence on the ground in China and introduce new products and technologies to this market, which offers huge business opportunities to us. We have been able to meet a number of potential business partners, which was our goal for participating at the show. We will definitely come back,” said Richard Worm, CEO of EVOLIFE Laboratoires.
In addition to the products and technologies on display, participants gained extensive knowledge at the CMEF conference program, which covered current topics such as innovation & application of clinical technology, R&D, regulations, and industry development & marketing trends.
Additionally, international companies benefited from engaging in discussions with key decision-makers of the Asia-Pacific medical device market, meeting potential buyers and purchasing products made in China that conform to international quality standards. These aspects of the show will help them gain strong competitive advantages in this crowded marketplace.
Commenting on the business value of the show, Mike Liu, Business Director, ChinaIMRIS, said, “The CMEF show is a great platform to drive brand awareness of our products. This is the first time we are part of the Canadian pavilion, and we have been able to generate some really interesting business leads and connect with potential business partners. We would highly recommend this show to any company interested in doing business in the medical equipment market in China.”
The next edition of CMEF will be held October 29-November 1, 2008 at the Suzhou International Expo Centre, Suzhou, China, where the event will celebrate its grand 60th edition anniversary celebration.
